Sewer Investigation
Additional CWW Investigation Services
In addition to conducting CCTV inspection, CWW provides the following series of related sewer investigation services:
Pressure Testing / Joint Testing
Under Pressure In pressure/joint testing, a section of pipe or joint is isolated by affixing a plug to both ends of the pipe, and then forcing air into the pipe length while the air pressure is monitored. Should the pressure fall below the accepted standard, there is clear evidence of a leak. It is then identified and repaired.
Smoke Testing
Ingeniously Simple, and Just as Effective The smoke testing process involves forcing smoke through sewer and drain pipes to discover and isolate potential water leaks, and to expose dangerous gas leaks. When it comes to gas leaks, sewer gas typically has a pervasive “rotten egg” odour and may contain explosive-prone methane gas or lethal hydrogen sulfide gas. Smoke testing methodology leaves no residue or stains, and is harmless to humans, pets, food, and material goods.
Sewer Locating
Discovering Its Exact Position CWW’s trained staff will use a Sonde device to determine the location of a pipe and its condition. And as a CWW quality standard, CWW employees mark the ground with stakes, flags and paint as may be required, and prepare a detailed sketch of the location of the sewer should it be scheduled for repair at a later date, or if the marking devices placed by the CWW crew become hidden by snow. The approximate depth of the sewer can be determined with the locating device. The Sonde can be used to locate sewers and drains indoors and outdoors.
